Nissan 180SX GT500 Concept

A vision of what a Nissan 180SX would be if it was a proper SUPER GT GT500 class car.

It’s with huge privilege and enthusiasm that I show you a concept that was in mind since my teenage days. I absolutely love the 180SX (RPS13), which resulted in myself buying one for me. As a Motorsport enthusiast, especially by this specific type of car that’s a GT500 race car, I always mixed up and associated the 180SX to GT racing - which unfortunately never happened properly, in contrast to the sister car Silvia, which went to compete in several categories in Japan. The Silvia was part of the entire JGTC history with the three famous generations (S13, S14 & S15) while the 180SX was a completely popular drifting machinery in the 90s and still is.

Actually, we had a “proper GT” 180SX racing in period, but the 240SX, racing in the IMSA GTU class in the early 90s. And as far as I know about GT racing stories, that’s the only time when the S13 hatchback (as it’s known outside japan) was transformed into a combat weapon for endurance races.

So the “what if” question spreads out to the internet, where we can find some of most talented people around the world that can recreate a vision of your total desire: a 180SX GT500.

It should be more applied to choose the JGTC-inspired bodykit to be accurate with the production time of the base model, but this is an exception and it’s canon. This is a 180SX with current GT500 aesthetics (or actually regulations), known internally as Class One, introduced officially in 2019 for DTM then SUPER GT in 2020, from a formula that’s been in development since 2012-2014.

When Nissan introduced the new Z (RZ34) as their GT500 car, I couldn’t stop to see how similar the car is to the side profile of an RPS13, and I remembered immediately my ideas of this car “remixed” as a proper (and actual) GT500 race car. And the result is… this set of perfection.

This render will be featuring several iconic liveries in the future.

It’s fun mixing both the 2020s and 1990s applications matched to the same act.
